Now we need a race in Germany!
i wish they joined as a seperate team rather than buying into an existing one but still interesting exciting news
Wow, Audi just keep on leveling up. Honestly, they have joined everything. To 24hr Le Mans races, to electric Dakar rally competitions, to Ken Block hooning for them and now to this, the pinnacle of motorsport, F1. I hope Audi can keep this momentum up when competing against its key rivals in 2026. Looking forward!!!

We don’t just want existing teams to have different engines. We want more teams on the grid. Add three teams to the grid and cut qualifying into two brackets to provide less traffic for qualifying.

Audi coming in to F1... this is going to be exciting! A new worthy competitor I hope!

Wouldn't it be nice if every team had a different engine supplier.

I'd love to see 26 cars back on the grid. although some of the circuits may have to add to the pitlane facilities to accommodate more teams.
i hope they allow other teams to come in with the rule change. having at least 11 or 12 teams on the grid would be nice so we can have more room for young talent to move up in the sport.

Mega news! Now let's see what Porsche and Honda will announce, moreover, let's not forget about Andretti. Hopefully Hockenheim will return in the calendar as well!
FINALLY. Porsche next hopefully!
Audi will boost sauber massively up the standings, Audi know how to build a fast reliable car, dominated Le Mans for 17 years, and hopefully F1 too!

Sad for Alfa Romeo but happy for Sauber as they still remain in this sport

Even with the immense opposition by teams especially Toto, I hope Andretti Autosport would be next. I also hope Hyundai would reconsider entering F1.

This is really cool. Hope that eventually we get more teams that do engine+chassis (Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, Alpine). I think the combination leads to a certain commitment of teams to stay longer. Quite some teams get "bought" to just change the name/branding. Maybe the entry fee is too high for such a commitment
It’s healthy for the sport that more manufacturers want to join in F1 and Audi will certainly be a fierce competitor. However, I am excited for Porsche joining forces with RedBull (pending that the deal still goes through!).

Would have been nice if it was a whole new team rather than just an engine manufacturer we need at least one or two more teams in F1
Audi and possibly Porsche. If F1 wasn't already exciting. Looking forward to seeing returns and new manufactures joining the F1 scene
Roland M. Dill
Roland M. Dill:
For new teams it could be nice to have a qualification round for manufacturers at the beginning of the season. The worst team of the previous season would have to prove they are still worthy of competing in F1 by racing all aspiring new teams, and the winning gets to participate in the new F1 season. But as it is prohibitively expensive to build a new F1 car I'm afraid there is zero chance that can ever happen. However Williams fighting Andretti, Porsche and maybe others as well in a quali race for the upcoming season (or 2026) could be really interesting imo.
It's nice to see them steering the ship in to the right direction!

Restructuring and optimizing that whole Universe called "formula 1" will obviously be a long process, but seeing new teams joining and others being interested to do so is a great sign.
The new cars and regulations have also heavily impacted dynamics on the grid in a positive way already.

I know that's just a concept car, but that thing looks absolutely stunning.
By far the best looking car on the grid for sure imo.

So does this mean honda could come back too? Main reason they gave was that they wanted to focus more on EV development and F1 engine development didn't align with that at that time

If anyone can put all the pieces together for a fully new team on that grid, that would be the VW groupation. Why not just let Porsche and Audi be the 11th and 12th team on the grid? Although I'm happy for Audi, the whole thing of revealing a whole car and hiding details of the deal is a pretty lame PR move when you are only joining an existing team as an engine supplier. Could be just me though

Maserati might step in shortly after Audi, so other manufacturers are possible. I think the Italians might especially join if Porsche indeed joins the F1

I was excited at first as I thought we'd be getting more teams on the grid now I feel let down 😥 get us more cars on the grid please 🙏🏻
A little underwhelming to hear they will be a power unit manufacturer rather than a works team.
F1 needs more teams and more teams fighting at the front with less back markers... this does not really feel like a step in that direction.
Welcome to F1 Audi <3 glad that they will partner up with my Hinwiler Sauber, this raceteam alone had Mercedes, Ford-Cosworth, BMW, Ferrari as engine suppliers & now Audi in the Story.
I wonder whether we'll see a bmw comeback now we've got both Audi and Merc in the sport and the obvious increase in audience size year after year
They will definitely have a cool design 😁👍🏼

2:00 Audi was once covering important places now there making distractions
I think problem with this is just that it is engine not a another team despite being in one of the richest multi link car companies
But i think i love to see how Audi engines perform

Deundre Ward:
This team will be my favorite in the future!!
I'm an Alfa Romeo (and Mercedes AMG) fan, but I'm glad Audi is taking over. Alfa is just an advertiser, whilst Audi will be (hopefully) a competitive engine maker for Sauber. With Porsche joining Red Bull, 2026 could be interesting. The more competitive teams, the merrier.

You do wonder how long Haas and Williams can survive as they are. Sauber at least seem ahead of the curve in letting a manufacturer be the face of the team while you’re still your own force behind the scenes

This is huge. I don't know much about Audi, but I know their LMP1 car is absolutely ferocious. I'd love to see more car manufactures in F1 doing more than just engines though.

I find it odd that there's a suggestion that the porsche and Audi PU won't come out of the same factory. I know they had totally different approaches in LMP1h, but that was mainly because audi were promoting diesel and there were very few limitations on engine design. F1 is the total opposite
Bottas winning the WDC in Audi around 2026/27 will be the Best thing we all will experience ❤️🖤

As a F1 fan since the early 2000's, a Volkswagen brand joining F1 is the longest -and frankly the most annoying- rumor saga I have witnessed. I'm just glad it's finally over.

Wish that the charge for starting a team wasn't so expensive, 24 cars is better than 20.
In fashion news: Lawrence's AlphaTauri jacket is currently on sale for $270. Down from $450.
The concept livery reminds me a bit of the old Vodafone McLaren Mercedes livery!
Don't want to spoil it here, but knowing their racing pedigree and how absolutely dominant they've been on any race program they've joined, I would bet on them to be the top team in F1 for years to come after 2026

Audi vs Mercedes

Alejandro S
Alejandro S:
What they need to do is bring in Andretti auto sport and have more diversity on the grid
Are they gonna put engine failure light in Formula1 cars?
Seems like Audi would just come in as a full works team, rather than just powering a backmarker team.
Dumitru Vreja
Dumitru Vreja:
With simplified engines, numerous of the shelf items, a buget of less than 150mil/anum, it is a no brainer for VW group to enter, considering the level of exposure that they get for the money. Sure, the initial investment is high (putting together the engine, building a team, etc), probably 1,5 billion (just a guess…) for the first 5 years, sounds like a lot…. but the again, I rember Mercedes spending 1 billion just for the facelilt of E class W 212
I really hoped to get them as a new team. I think we need more than 20 cars on track.
now we need more teams!
Nathaniel-Paul Chisadza
Nathaniel-Paul Chisadza:
So will they join an make it 11 teams on the grid, or are they more likely to replace another team or partner up
Bimon Solivar
Bimon Solivar:
So F1 wants engine manufacturers but doesn't "need" new teams to extend the grid, even if it's an iconic team as Andretti? That's ridiculous...
What i dont like is that for the new regulations they are removing the mgu-h and at the same time they want to be cleaner, so i dont understand that logic

Wait so I assume Porsche will be with them or will they still be with Red Bull? Porsche should have there own team being they are the greatest car manufacture ever
Rosanna already wearing Audi colors. And Lawrence rocking that nice lime green Alpha Tauri jacket! And btw everyone, we all know Audi will be partnering with Sauber. But did you know that Seb lives only an hour away from the Sauber factory in Hinwil, Switzerland? He'd only be 38 at the start of the 2026 season and you know they'd throw yuuge money his way.
James Cox
James Cox:
Great news that Audi are here. But while We may see new works teams join formula 1 in the coming years. While the Concorde agreement is structured the way it is it will be at the expense of other brands…
Mandy B
Mandy B:
Welcome to Audi. I genuinely wish them future success. I was a big fan of the way they comported themselves in WEC. Even when they kept on winning Le Mans, they never took it for granted and their joy on winning was always genuine, and mixed with dignified reactions to their opponents' bad luck, it made supporting them easy. (Though I could say that of all endurance teams I've watched.)

Now increase the grid size by letting Andretti join, and make the fans - *the people who pay for it all* - happy! I'm not American, I know that a whole host of F1's core supporters - the ones who stick by F1, almost no matter what (but stop taking us for granted!) - from all over the globe want Andretti to join! F1 needs more, _quality_ competition!

If Liberty is genuinely interested in expanding the sport, that's fine, but remember that without the core base that has been around for decades (even in countries where there's never been a race), interest could very easily fizzle out around the boring street circuits once the novelty has worn off. To keep the majority of the fans' cash coming in, you need to listen to us. That means keeping certain tracks (Silverstone, Spa & Monza especially! I'd add Suzuka and Melbourne to the list, too) on the full-time calendar. By all means bring in new tracks, but alternate between them to keep the novelty lasting longer. Oh, and Kyalami is now untouchable! It's about time!
