Klopp's Reaction: 'It's a game we should have won' | Liverpool vs West Brom
Jürgen Klopp offers his respect to West Bromwich Albion following a draw at Anfield, but says his side must show the same willingness in both halves, to take all three points.
Unfortunately a result we absolutely deserved. A very poor second half. Hopefully, we learn from this and bounce back.
Bobby:
100 % Killed the Mood for the rest of day
Ayush Prabhash:
A centre back signing in January is a must now. No centre half of us is dominant in the air except Nat Phillips who has got other problems. Matip just can't be trusted with his injury record. Every time he gets injured, which is quite often, the team's rhythm and confidence breaks a bit.
Mark Doherty:
We've had a few of these types of performances this season. A bit complacent and lack of urgency. A few players, dare I say it, almost looked a little too arrogant at times. Very disappointing and a big opportunity missed today. Can't be dropping points to teams like West Brom if we want to retain out title.
Тайлер Дерден:
Обожаю этого тренера , даже в момент неудачи он находит силы улыбаться , YNWA !!!
Mattafix Mattafix:
It's a shame, we left 2 points at home! But we think positively! Good luck from Germany!
Ronan C:
Reminiscent of the Houllier and Rafa yrs. Teams would come to Anfield, defend deep, grab a point. One of the reasons Lfc went 30 years without the title.
Ayush Prabhash:
Virgil wins the aerial duel which resulted in the West Brom equaliser 9 times out of 10. Can't believe people actually say we're not missing Virgil. An aerially dominant centre half signing is a must.
Anthony Yeboah:
Phillip should have come on as he is very strong in the air.
Mo Salah:
Last season we lost 12 points in 38 games and now we have lost 8 already. These type of games can cost us in future
Sayid Low:
Liverpool will still win the EPL. They played soo well and full of motivation and energy. I think they are on their way to another EPL with this masterclass display.
Rakesh Gotwo:
This is an absurd game especially after a 7 win away again crystal. There were lack of intensity and this win would have been crucial. But we love you kloppy.
Chinmay:
Hard to swallow the draw but on we go 💪🏻🔴 C'mon lads we got this
Zawaar Khan:
Honestly I expected the score to be at least 5-0 to us, mistakes happen, but our second half wasn’t good enough as we expected it to be, we deserved it because of the way we played, it saddens me but hopefully next match we’ll bounce back and win
John Doyle:
I rate Curtis but why does he think he’s iniesta just pass the ball stop tryna dribble every player especially on the edge of ur own box
TheTB:
No klopp we didn't deserve to win, 3rd draw with teams from the bottom, we should use such games to collect points not to take a break!!
eastshore carp:
It was a game of quite brilliant tactics by the WBA manager. He knew his team will not be able to last 90 minutes if they play the "normal" game, so the first half, it was a 164 tight configuration, blocking all the channels and parking the bus. Liverpool was able to be so dominant only because WBA squandered all possession. On the one hand only able to score one goal frustrated Liverpool, but at the same time, this actually boost the hopes of the WBA players. Once he let his team go out attacking, we can feel a different team.
I think Liverpool expected more of the same in the second half, and had planned accordingly. Since Liverpool wasn't able to score more, WBA only need one set piece or one lapse of attention to grab one point. Not a lot of managers would have thought through the entire objective and process so thoroughly, and I think Samuel Allardyce did a superb job handling this game. It is not everyday you see a David vs Goliath contest when David steal a point.
11 11:
You never walk alone jurgen klopp
I loathe people who're still talking after I say hi:
So many missed chances, Sir Jurgen pls start the reserves in games like these, let them grit it out with the smaller clubs, the big boys felt like they could coast through after the first half, disappointed to say the least
mark dance:
We need games like this to keep the team on the ground - lfc have far too many key players now injured - hope January will bring afrw new players
gustavo chaccha cuicapusa:
Felt like I was watching a cheap Guardiola or Arteta impression today. Lots of possession, spamming crosses but only 2 shots on target (2nd one coming in the stoppage time!)
That was never going to work against a team basically playing 4 CBs, unless you have Air Ronaldo or Zlatan up front
Needed to bring on Ox or Shaqiri earlier, they're the ones that can either pick a pass through the D or test the keeper from distance
YoungG KealanYT:
Reds are still strong and positive! On to the next game!❤️✊
yahya khelladi:
i feel m gonna explode, tired to see that we lose 2 points while dominanting the whole game.
hope that we'll win the next one, ynwa.
tazzatamania:
Thought the midfield selection was too obvious today, all three are functional and add very little to the attack, even Curtis Jones has become the same. This isolated the forwards and as Trent was by far our worst performer, this further isolated the front 3. Not often I criticise the manager but thought he was slow to react to the rather obvious problems. Also, I'm not gonna slate Jones as, yes, he caused the corner but ultimately it wasn't defended.
S. O:
You just know that the opposition deserves something from the game if they've stopped Bobby from scoring a last moment game changer. Anyways, need to get over today's result and look into the future games
im Inc:
Course it was our fault. Jones made a mistake
Puneet Kaushik:
Liverpool are dropping way too many by points by drawing these games, it might come back to haunt them just like the 97 point season when Man City pulled off a 14 game win streak at the end, similarly Man City will gain some kind of a form after arrival of fit Aguero.
hahaheterjag:
Klopp need to be more active and not just scream at the refs, Jones was giving the ball away all game and should’ve been off way before he cost us the game.
Adesh:
We should have deffinately won this game.. We missed many chances in the first half and when matip was injured everything went into shambles
McLovin Jr:
I don’t want to hear Klopp complain about the 5 sub change when he makes changes so late into the half. Ox should’ve had at least 20-30 minutes to get into the game and what exactly is Origi going to do in 5 minutes? It doesn’t make sense. Shaqiri also on the bench and we could’ve used his creativity. A week off for this boring performance.
Håkon Rød:
I don’t want 2 say klopp made a mistake, but bringing on rhys was poor, not giving ox or Even shaq 20-30 mins was also bad. After Matip’s injury the game kinda drifted away from us. Maybe pushed for second goal harder, drop hendo down or something idk.
Ice Cool:
When one of the skysports pundits said the game passed us by he wasn't kidding. After scoring we spent the other 80mins huffing and puffing without anything of significance except that Bobby header. Many of our usual heroes were below par except Robbie and Alisson. The Matip injury had an impact on our mentality. In all honesty we have to be grateful for a point and on to the next one.
stevendchu:

A Yousef:
We go again strongly 🔥🔥🔥
The Double:
The only way we will keep winning comfortably is if the front 3 know that they have competition for their spots. They all put an effort last match when Minamino scored.
St. James Hawke:
I could see the equalizer coming just 10 minutes into the 2nd half. Surprised that Klopp did not...🙈
Joe Stockton:
Needed shots fron outside af...should've had OX and Shaq on for Jones and Gini at about 60 min.
Shaun Andson:
I love trend but since when he come back from injury he's not the same Alexander we all
Thz Tan:
Hope we can win the next game🙂👍
Prince Jr Miles:
Football is unpredictable so we cannot blame the team atleast we didn't lose they played well and they gave they're best but it wasn't enough for us to win.
Chris S:
Two shots on target.
Bravo lads.
Bring rushie out of retirement
Tony Apedo:
Liverpool the best team my team love you so much unlimited love for this team
Liverpool Football Club:
Believe me or not,
This match could have potentially pushed LFC close to the title.
Opッice:
Jurgen ,you really seem to be a man against his opinion, (5 sub rule) but you aren't making the 3 subs in the r8 moment ,we r have strong players from the bench that could help us win the game such as shaq,ox ,milner ,minamino just bring the subs in time. I strongly believe they will do better🙂
Ancient knight:
I felt this coming, look there's no information about this new manager to prepare, but in all honesty we can't play the same way as a would expect us to play, like this we're jota is missed very much we'll take the point
Abdinasir Mohamed:
A big mistake not to start Minamino and Shaqiri.
A day like this was meant their day
red_blood_lfc._:
I agree but how did we not win this game, this was a easy game to get our 3 points and get points forward but no we drew again, but still liverpool forever🔴🔴🔴
Layth Barzangi:
Let's be honest here, this loss was a tactical screw-up and it's entirely on Klopp. I still believe Curtis Jones is a brilliant player but Klopp should've noticed that he was having an off day today and brought on Ox (or Shaq) much earlier. The game shifted when Ox came on as he livened up the midfield and almost got us goal through an assist had it not been for Johnstone's save, but it was all a little too late. I don't think Rhys can be blamed for the equaliser, as it was Curtis's mistake and with the ball flying awkwardly he did the right thing by sending it out for a corner -- which could have amounted to nothing had we defended it properly (we didn't press well enough to make it difficult to cross from a corner played short). There's a lot to learn from this match.
Albert Lye:
We should've topped the table with 5 points but we let ourselves down by not scoring more goals eventhough we had 8 shots on target and more than 70% possession .
PotatoAimNr1:
Surely now we'll sign a centre half.
Yeah, Matip and Gomez are both good enough to start every game, but if they're injured we have to rotate the defence to much. Now with Virg gone even more so.
The youngsters are doing a good job, but it might just be too much to ask to play every other week.
Rafli Fardhani:
Never give up and stay strong
Next match I Hope 3 points and cleensheat
Captain Trips:
Nat Phillips should have been brought when Matip got injured
Antonio Silva:
I miss Philipe Coutinho and his magnificent kicks from outside the box
Jakey Rembrandt:
After the palace game i thought we'd get an easy 10 nil with taki, ox, bobby and everyone else on the scoresheet just for the laugh but we were severly humbled. Credit to West Brom. We were overconfident and had a cocky mentality id reckon. On to the next, hopefully back with that winning mentality
Indian Gamers:
I noticed one thing is that in this season liverpool struggled to win over bottom team but couldn't successed
MrSaltyCookie:
I knew they gonna score when jones was making that pass
Thrashpit66:
What is he smiling for ?? One of the greatest coaches that commands a great team, they should be winning 99.9% of their games !! With all the talent, experience and resources this team should be unstoppable !!
Looks like they are lazy, tired and full of themselves.!!
Bilal Hussain:
Two centre backs required in Jan...I hope these are already lined up
Mike Ansari:
Controlling the ball 80% of the game doesn’t win games. There is no clinical finishing up front.
Mukhalled Al Araki:
This was totally klop fault, he never clinically intervene on time when something goes wrong, it was clear from the first half that Jones not functioning, waiting till minutes 80 of the game to make the change !!? it is too late.
Jodash Pillay:
We becoming the next Barcelona, knocking the ball from side to side, wanting to score a fancy goal. The thing I don't understand is how West brom can get the ball up the field so fast with them playing a 6-4 formation and we could not defend that. Kloop needs to address that in his meetings.
Gary Gussanian:
Klopp must teach his new young players like Jones and Arnold to focus until the last minute of the match. Jones' arrogance and recklessness was the reason for the draw today. WBA did what they know best and went home happy. The solution is very simple Mr. Klopp: Do your best and focus to the last minute and you shall get results.
FarizzulFarouk:
the lads already in festive mood.
txcforever:
The game plan was a bit bewildering especially in the second half when the team started to run out of energy. You are winning against a team that their only goal is to defend en mass and hopefully strike in a counter attack. Why would you play their game when you are already winning? Fall back a bit and wait force them to change their tactics. Instead Liverpool played exactly how they wanted them to.
Armando Tovar:
Que vergüenza, perder dos puntos, acuerden e que hemos perdido dos campeonatos por un punto, por menospreciar al contenedor, muy mal liverpoll
LizziLou0007:
Disappointed to drop 2 points today but it’s done now. Learn from it, move on, do better.
ĎĂVξĶ:
Herr Shipmans losing his head 😂😂😂
fms fms:
Well...I still think that Liverpool play better attacking style compared to other teams...Man City is a goal shy team and can be easily beaten by any bottom teams thru counter attacks...Liverpool is much much much stronger and sharper than Man City...lots of possession by no goals
Liban Guleed:
These are the games we should be picking up all 3pts plus we need more clean sheets😭😭 nevertheless we go again
Matt Deadman:
We always struggle with these Teams, I mean the (PARKING BUS) bottom tier Teams! But we win against most of the top Teams, so that's why we are Top! YNWA
J W:
As Craig Burley would say: The best team didn't win.
johnjoseph:
But we didn't.
Possesion means nothing without goals
Hosam Shadi:
Even the blind can see Jones, Arnold and Mane not pass the ball to Salah. I hope Salah will go to Real Madrid💪
Faizinho silva:
Liverpool's Second half display was as if they're the team fighting the relegation battle...the way west brom played the second half felt like they're entirely a different team unlike they were in the first half...😒
S. O:
Sometimes it feels like Liverpool spends more on Naby Keita's medical bills than transfers.. Most Liverpool players were bought for a bargain price. But the same can't be said for Keita. A healthy amount of 50 million was spent for him. Klopp needs to take a decision on him at the end of this season.. This playing one game and staying injured for the next 5 can't continue
Basel shrky aser shwk:
Liverpool❤🏅
William Gillbanks:
I am fed up with the Reds, how come every time they play Relegation threatened Teams they Draw? City or any top 4 Team would hammer them so what is it with Liverpool.
Guy Katambo:
Just gonna put it out there, somebody else should start taking freekicks, TAA's rate is poor! You can't score in every 10 freekicks once and remain number 1 free kick taker! ABSOLUTELY ridiculous
Aidan Jacobs:
Keep it up just say confident and improve where you can
S Mc:
Klopp should have made earlier subs at 1-0 to freshen things up instead of letting the game drift!! It was obvious the players that were out there were struggling to break them down!!
Zach:
The amount of shots we took is slightly reassuring. But we failed to capitalize.
Mohamed Abdelkader:
There were 5 games we should have won them i think Klopp deserves some blame on them i mean with dealing with small teams .I think Klopp have a problem dealing with small teams
Tsung Wei Liu:
We need vvd back
mohammed k 11:
Good job liverpool 👏
Dylan Lonsk:
We should have won at least 2-0. This game ruined my mood.
Gin Tantovski:
bring in milenkovic from Fiorentina to Anfield ,,,Mr Klopp !!!!
Ashish Rai:
We missed Thiago.
:Nnamdi-igwebike :maduka.:
We must capitalise in games when we dominating.
b. tba:
66 games unbeaten at Anfield. Do you know who was the last one to beat us in 2017? Uncle Sam from West Brom :)
Don't worry lads, we will hit back!

🧐: Everything Jürgen Klopp stated, is factual.
And , I’d like to add:
At the 60th minute, Rhys Williams made a good tackle, in fact;
The West Brom player went down without being tackled, and got a free kick from the referee.
Jürgen Klopp , rightly vented his disgust regarding that decision. And yep, the referee gave him a yellow card.
Again, VAR representatives / the referee refereeing the game, was absolutely bias.
For example:
After Mané scored his goal, the West Brom player ie Furlong, began playing rugby against Mané.
Mané brought his concerns to the referee, and the referee basically told him, there’s nothing wrong with Furlong wrapping his arms around him (Mané),
Yes, the Liverpool team could of played better today; but there’s no excuse for the opposing team players, playing rugby instead of football, on the pitch.
So again, where was VAR in regards, to how Furlong played against Mané ?
We are liverpool !
