From the androgyny of Prince, to the vocal mannerisms of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger, Little Richard's impact on pop culture was ubiquitous. James Brown began his career as a Little Richard impersonator, Hendrix started playing guitar in Richard's band and Michael Jackson deemed him a major influence.
A pioneering figure in the development of soul and funk, Little Richard is most remembered as a founding father of early Rock'n'roll. He blew the lid off the 50s with game changing songs such as "Tutti Frutti" and "Good Golly Ms Molly",becoming a benchmark by which excellence is judged. He acheived all of this under the glaring shadow of segregation, often being denied radio airplay. Bravely fighting against systematic racism, Richard shattered the colour line in music, changing American pop culture forever and becoming one of the most influential figures in entertainment.

Long live The Innovator, The Originator and The Architect of Rock'n' roll

This man was the real king of rock and roll. I'll never forget the first time I saw him on TV with a red cape and red lipstick on. He started singing and I just had to dance every time I heard him. Years ago he played at the Orange County Fair and he invited people to come up on the stage and dance while he played piano and sang. There weren't many people brave enough to jump on stage but I had gone to the fair by myself so I did. One of my Fondest Memories is dancing right next to the piano while Little Richard looked at me and sang Good Golly Miss Molly
Play on Little Richard!! God's got you in his choir now❤

When I was about 17 years old I was with my family walking on Hollywood Blvd when a limousine pulled over and the back tinted window half opened and a hand stuck out offering something I could not see. A lot of folks walked towards the limo to get what this rich guy in a limo was giving out so I went too. To my surprise it was Little Richard smiling handing out christian tracts. I knew who he was even then because I like oldies and he stands out.

This man in a way introduced me to Jesus Christ and although he was famous and rich took the time to give me and others the most precious and priceless gift of all, the message of the Creator of all things offering to give me eternal life. That is what I remember most about Little Richard....I know where he is at this very moment.... Praise God!

I met him at my old job at a local casino about 6 or 7 years ago. He performed on news years and was leaving the very next day with his crew of about 10 people... he called me over to his limousine. He said "Hey young man... you know I love you right". As he was talking, he was reaching in his right sock and he gave me $100 and shook my hand... I was in disbelief... a man as famous as he, paying me to shake his hand... RIP LITTLE RICHARD ... MAY GOD BE WITH YOU. ONE DAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN BUT ILL BE SHOWING YOU THE LOVE.

He was amazing- he carried the true spirit of rock and roll, and I'm so sad to hear this. Little Richard was always a blast to watch perform, and his music and energy were uplifting, joyful, and downright fun! I'll bet kids (and their parents) who watch reruns of the Magic School Bus probably don't realize it's Little Richard wailing away on that theme song. One of the two grandfathers of rock and roll piano (Jerry Lee Lewis is the other) is now gone. RIP Little Richard.

“I’m not conceited, I’m convinced!” —Little Richard. The man never lost his praise, and he lived long enough to see his music appreciated in a greater way than it was when it was new. RIP, Creator of Rock & Roll 💯

Joe B:
I'm happy he lived a long life.. I absolutely love his unleashed, wild style... bursting expression. As far as cutting loose, I can't think of anyone who could top him. So much spirit and enthusiasm. Of all the rhythms and grooves out there, his remain perhaps the most infectious. I grew up hearing his songs by him and many other artists. As I got a bit older I realized he was the one responsible for all these songs. I have a few of his records, and revisit them from time to time. Every time I do, I am swept away with how damn good that music holds up. It never fails to get me amped up and feel sheer joy in his performance. I better bust out those records tonight!!!
I vividly remember in the movie Christine " Keep a knockin' " blasting on the car radio that only played old music.
Thank you Little Richard!

I had a lovely conversation with Little Richard at a traffic light in Tullahoma, TN in 2007. He had a home in Lynchburg, TN which is my hometown. We were beside his car at the traffic light and he rolled his window down and greeted me and the wife. As his driver pulled away, he said God Bless You and my reply was "God Bless You Little Richard"! I looked at my wife and her mouth was gaped open!
