Even thought a 5 set match may not have been the best for him physically, especially in R1, I think it was good for his mentality. It taught him not to underestimate an opponent and stop rushing to finish the points, minimizing unforced errors. You could tell he was much calmer and focused on R2, which helped him be more effective. I hope he continues this way.

I'm actually somewhat surprised to see that Tsitsipas does seem to feel comfortable on clay as well. I thought that with his more attacking and fast play, he would feel more comfortable on faster courts. This means he actually is a complete player

Tsitsipas has been very inconsistent with his form lately but he played well today....he needs to hold on to this form and simultaneously get better as competition will get fierce after the next round with Bedene. An uphill task waits for Tsitsipas when he meets Dimitrov, then a possible nemesis Rublev, then Plastic man Djokovic, and finally either the king of clay Nadal or 2020 US Open Champion Thiem.
