I avoid all crowded areas, always have. Fifty years ago my father warned me that crazy, violent people can be attracted to groups of people. I never forgot that.
Sounds more like “criminal violence,” than, “gun violence,” but keep ignoring the actual problems.

We need to make sure those responsible are held accountable. The guy that did the shooting more than likely has 19 felonies already. Hold the DA and judges responsible.

It’s so unfortunate that people can’t get along and have fun. My sister and niece were in the crowd. Thankfully, they are both fine. My prayers go out to everyone who was hurt and the young child that was killed.

Really shameful that this happened celebrating freedom from slavery and people have to get into fights shooting each other just because.

Great to see the "community" is taking Juneteenth seriously. There were violent incidents all over the country last night. DC, Chicago and Miami.

They found a bunch of guns, but not the gun the shooter used . . . this is why it's so naive to think we can control this, it's so far past that point.
If you cannot manage respect at least try to start treating each other like we are empowered to take each other's lives at will.
How did this happen? Carrying is illegal in D.C. and owning a firearm is a rigorous process that has to be affirmed by sheriff/judge. It's almost like criminals don't care about the laws and will carry a gun with them even if it's illegal.

Of course. Everyone knew that was going to happen. Ask the cops all over the USA.

That is truly unfortunate! Police say several guns were recovered, but not the murder weapon. Wonder who had the other guns and what they were planning to do with them. And I will bet every individual that has a gun there also had a criminal record.
mhm... that's what happens when you let people riot for 2 years and drop all their charges.

CAN WE DO SOMETHING PLEASE! I’m beyond enraged right now. I swear every time I turn on either my local or national news there’s always somebody that’s been hurt or killed by gun violence! Why did a guy with multiple felonies even HAVE a gun in the first place! Change needs to happen, and maybe it would if our politicians weren’t so spineless.

When you bring a gun or guns to a gathering you are looking for something to happen.Something that should have been peaceful turned into a tragedy. Now a mother and father son will not be coming home to his parents.Your suppose to bury you patents not your parents bury children.Condolence to his family RIP 😇🌹💙🙏.

Any crime that involves the discharge of a firearm should be a mandatory 20 years in federal prison on top of the penalties for other crimes committed.

I think now this would be a wonderful opportunity give thanks to this special part of the black community for the wonderful contribution to society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony by their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any culture. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as a perfect example to all who aspire to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by these Black Americans into areas due to their caring and respectful nature in those communities, an example of all they have achieved though their enthusiasm for self-improvement, hard work and self reliant can-do nature. Without their industrious and creative drive we would undoubtably be a poorer nation.
I would be willing to bet that the person who committed this criminal act had been charged with prior offenses and probably should have been locked up right now.
Washington D.C. eliminated cash bail early on, in 1992. In 2017, 94 percent of defendants were released pretrial without cash bail and 88 percent showed up for all of their court dates.

They should only have indoor events, so as to have metal detectors, and a limit on the crowd sizes. These things that are everyday happenings now, rarely ever used to occur. At Woodstock there were a half million in the crowd for three days, and no violence.

Police officer was shot in the leg, got up and went towards the gun fire and tried to help. He is a hero and should be recognized. Sad this stuff is happening. This country has to start punishing those who use guns. If you use one in a crime, it should be an automatic 15 years without parole. If you hurt someone it should go to 20 years and if you kill someone, it should be life without parole. Stiffer punishment is the answer, not more laws that will not deter the criminals but real time will.
