Why Some People Are Objecting to Gal Gadot Playing Cleopatra

"Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot has just been cast as Cleopatra, but some feel the Israeli-born actress shouldn’t be playing the Egyptian Queen. “Cleopatra was a black woman and she isn’t black,” reads one tweet. Another person tweeted, "I’m going to say this once - Cleopatra was Greek!” Elizabeth Taylor famously played the Queen of the Nile, which also raised eyebrows back in the 1960’s. More than 50 years later, casting Cleopatra still causes controversy.
